Missing student found murdered

TEMERLOH: The remains of a Form Five student was found near an empty shop-lot in Mentakab near here, a week after she was reported missing.

The semi-decomposed body of Chua Li Yen (pic), 17, of SM Kerayong, Bera was found by passers-by around 3.30am yesterday.

Police are awaiting the post-mortem from the Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital Temerloh to ascertain if she was sexually assaulted.

Family members could not positively identify the remains due to the state of decomposition but police found an identity card and a cellphone belonging to Li Yen at the scene.

Li Yen left home on May 1 with a male companion.

Her family lodged a missing person report and called for a press conference in Johor on Friday to seek public assistance to trace her whereabouts.

Pahang CID chief Asst Comm T. Narenasagaran said the case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

He expects an arrest soon.

Li Yen’s father Chua Yunn Jiang, 43, said his family sensed something amiss when he and his family returned from a holiday in Port Dickson.

Li Yen did not follow her family on the trip and it proved to be a costly decision.

Chua said when he and his family returned on May 2, there was no sign of his daughter and calls to her cellphone went unanswered.

After a futile search in Bera, Triang and here, the family sought the help of a medium who said the girl was somewhere in the southern part of the country.

Chua and his wife then went to Johor to visit a relative and later called a press conference to seek public help.

It is learnt Li Yen had recently broken off with her live-in boyfriend of two years.

So, pls, girls, take care of yourselves properly and dun let ppl take advantage of you....... or it could be the end............
